MidNIGHTHAWK Madness Scheduled To Welcome 2013-2014 Basketball Season

DAHLONEGA, Georgia – (UNGAthletics.com) – The Nighthawk Nation will get its first taste of the 2013-2014 basketball season on Thursday, October 17 when the University of North Georgia men’s and women’s basketball teams will host MidNIGHTHAWK Madness in UNG’s Memorial Hall.  Doors are set to open at 9:30 with festivities set to commence at 10:00. 

The evening is a joint production between the UNG Athletic Department, Student Government Association and Residence Life. 

The first 500 fans to enter Memorial Hall will receive free rally towels courtesy of Residence Life.  There will be a photo booth organized by the Blue Crew, UNG’s student cheering section as well as free Nighthawk temporary tattoos. 

SGA will be giving away 350 free t-shirts with the MidNIGHTHAWK Madness logo on the front and home basketball game schedule on the back. 

Various prizes include free Papa Johns pizzas, free Chick-Fil-a sandwiches, Keurig coffee maker, an ENO hammock, a UNG branded corn hole board and a spike ball game.  Each fan that enters Memorial Hall will receive a raffle ticket for a free drawing at the end of the night.

Highlighting the hour-long schedule of events is a chance to meet the UNG basketball teams and performances by UNG dance team, UNG cheerleaders and the newly formed UNG Pep Band.  The evening will also feature numerous crowd engagement spirit contests.

The 2013-2014 UNG basketball teams opened practice on Tuesday in preparation for their season openers with the women slated to host Piedmont College in an exhibition affair on November 6 and the men scheduled to travel to Tigerville, S.C. on November 8-9 to take part in the Conference Carolinas/Peach Belt Challenge.
