Saints Drop Series to Bobcats in PBC Play
MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – North Georgia saw the
Bobcats steal a pair of come-from-behind victories Saturday
afternoon as Georgia College & State University swept a
three-game series from the Saints, taking game one 11-6 and game
two 6-2 in PBC action.
The Saints suffer their first sweep of the season and fall to 15-11 overall and 7-5 in the Peach Belt Conference, while GCSU moves into first place at 17-6 overall and 7-2 in the league.
In game one, The Saints jumped on top in the first inning as Zach Bennett doubled home Andre Airich and Craig Brisson with two outs to make it 2-0.
North Georgia held the Bobcats scoreless until single runs in the third and fourth innings led into a nine-run fifth inning that gave GCSU an 11-2 advantage.
The Saints added four runs in the sixth inning on a Brad Hall double and a pair of bases loaded walks, but the Bobcats held on for the 11-6 victory.
Tyler Musslewhite (2-1) suffered the loss, allowing six hits and six earned runs in 4.1 innings of work.
In game two, North Georgia got off to a promising start again, this time scoring single runs in the first and third innings to take another lead. Hall added the RBI hits for both runs as the Saints took the 2-0 advantage.
The Saints were unable to keep the Bobcats off the scoreboard however, giving up two runs in the fourth, a single run in the sixth, and three more in the seventh as GCSU walked away with the 6-2 victory.
Michael Patton (2-2) took the loss in the finale, allowing seven hits and three runs, all earned, while striking out six in 5.2 innings of work.
North Georgia returns to action on Tuesday afternoon, hosting Valdosta State University with first pitch scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
