Box Score

DAHLONEGA, GA – North Georgia College & State University rallied to force extra innings, but the Argonauts of West Florida came back with a run in the 10th inning to walk away with a 5-4 victory over the Saints on Wednesday evening at Bob Stein Stadium in non-conference action.

The Saints fall to 19-18 on the season, while West Florida improves to 25-15 on the year with the two-game sweep of North Georgia. The Argonauts now lead the all-time series 6-5 with North Georgia.

Jordan Erisman gave North Georgia their second first-inning lead in as many days as the freshman launched his fifth home run of the year in the opening a frame, sending the long ball to left center to give the Saints a 1-0 lead.

West Florida answered back with single runs in the second and third innings as Tyler Hastings doubled home Lee Huggins who raced all the way around from first base to tie the game at a run apiece. Jack Materne broke the deadlock in the third frame with a single up the middle to plate Brandon Brewer and give the Argonauts a 2-1 advantage.

The Saints would came back and tie the game in the fourth inning as Daniel Petitti singled to start the inning and later scored from second on a single to right field off the bat of Logan Sharrett to make it 2-2.

West Florida would take the lead right back in the fifth however, as Greg Pron unloaded on a fastball and planted his fifth home run of the year on the hill down the left field line to make it 4-2.

North Georgia used some two-out magic in the sixth inning to rally their way to another tie. Brad Hall kept the inning alive with a single up the middle, and Davy Wallach followed and belted his second home run of the year, sending the blast to left field to tie the game once again, this time at 4-4.

Pitching dominated late in the game as the contest went into extra innings, but West Florida executed the hit and run to perfection in the 10th to take the lead. Brewer stuck his bat out and punched a single through the left side with a pair of runners on the move to bring Hastings around to score and give the Argonauts a 5-4 lead. The Saints went down in order in the last of the 10th to give UWF the two-game series sweep.

North Georgia returns to action over the weekend, traveling to Augusta State to take on the Jaguars in a three-game Peach Belt Conference series. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. before closing the weekend with a single game on Sunday with first pitch slated for 1:00 p.m.
