DAHLONEGA, GA – After taking two of three from UNC Pembroke in the opening weekend of Peach Belt Conference play, the North Georgia baseball team jumped to No. 13 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30 poll on Monday afternoon.

The Saints (9-3, 2-1 PBC) are one of six PBC teams in the top 30, joining Columbus State (7), UNC Pembroke (t15), Georgia College (21), USC Aiken (22) and Francis Marion (t30).

Tampa moved to the top of the poll, overtaking West Florida who dropped to second, while Central Missouri, Grand Valley State and Seton Hill round out the top five.

The Saints went 2-1 last week with their only action being the weekend series against the then 9th-ranked Braves. With their two wins North Georgia jumped from 26 to 13, while UNC Pembroke dropped to 15th.

After starting the season 1-2 and dropping out of the polls, the Saints have won eight of their last nine to jump into the top 15.

North Georgia looks to stay hot this weekend when they travel to South Carolina to take on No. 30 Francis Marion in Peach Belt Conference action.

The two squads will play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m. on both days. The Saints are just 7-17 all-time against the Patriots.
