Bellavance and Hobby Named Peach Belt All-Conference

AUGUSTA, GA – The North Georgia baseball team was honored on Tuesday evening at the 2012 PBC baseball awards banquet, placing two players on the All-Conference team.

A year after earning first team All-Conference honors both Kenny Bellavance and Blake Hobby were named to the second team. 

Hobby capped a historic career at North Georgia with an 8-3 record and an earned run average of 4.69 in 78.2 innings of work. For the second straight year Hobby led the Saints in strikeouts with 51.

The Macon, Georgia, native captured the career record for wins with 27 on April 21, when he worked seven scoreless innings in a 2-1 victory over Augusta State. In conference action Hobby was 6-3 tossing one complete game shutout. In his 12 starts this season Hobby tossed at least six innings in nine of them. 

Bellavance followed an impressive sophomore campaign with a strong junior season as he batted .330 with 35 RBI's and 31 runs scored. The Stone Mountain, Georgia, native was a perfect 7-7 in stolen bases, while leading the Peach Belt Conference in triples with three.

In conference action Bellavance hit .347 with an on-base percentage of .415. Bellavance anchored the Saints outfield starting in all 49 games with a fielding percentage of .991.

North Georgia will begin the 2012 PBC Tournament Wednesday afternoon, taking on Armstrong Atlantic in the second game of the championship at 12:30 p.m. in Golden Park.
