Howard Duffin in Contention as Saints Sit in 8th Place

CLEMMONS, N.C. – After the first two rounds of play the North Georgia men's golf team sits in eighth place at the Will Wilson Intercollegiate, contested at the par-70 Championship Course at the Tanglewood Golf Club.
Fresh of his second place at Timberline, Howard Duffin finds himself in contention yet again as he sits one shot back of the leader at one-under-par (70-69) for the tournament.
The Saints followed up an opening round aggregate score of 295 with a 300 on Monday, sitting just eight strokes behind fourth place Newberry College.
After 36-holes, Wingate is tied with the Peach Belt's UNC Pembroke for the team lead at 16-over-par, with Carson-Newman just one shot back in third place.
UNC Pembroke's Jordan Walor shot a one-under-par 69 in both his first and second rounds to hold a slim, one-shot lead over North Georgia's Howard Duffin. Clifford Blanquicet of Wingate sits in third place at even par, while five players are tied at one-over par in fourth place.
Duffin continues to impress during the fall campaign, following up an opening round even-par with a one-under-par 69. Through two rounds, Duffin is second in the field in par 4 scoring shooting two-under-par, while recording seven birdies and 23 pars.
In the opening round, freshman Aaron George shot a one-under-par 69 to leave him in a tie for third, before firing a six-over-par 76 in the second round to drop down to a tie for 15th place. Through two rounds George has recorded six birdies and is tied with Duffin for the team-lead with 23 pars.
Grant Rish has been consistent at Tanglewood in his first two rounds, shooting back-to-back six-over-par 76's. Heading into the third and final round of the Will Wilson Intercollegiate Rish is in a tie for 28th place at 12-over-par.
Bryson Womack improved his opening round score of 80 by one shot, carding a nine-over par 79 in the second round. Womack is tied for lead amongst all players in the field in par 5 scoring, shooting two-under-par.
In just his second tournament as a member of the Saints, Will Brackett followed up an opening round 82 with a 14-over-par 84. Through two rounds Brackett has recorded four birdies and is shooting one-under-par on the par 5's.
The 2011 Will Wilson Intercollegiate is contested at the 18-hole Championship course at the Tanglewood Golf Club, which features just over 7,000 yards of course and is a par 70. The course rating is 74.5 and it has a slope rating of 140 on Bermuda grass.
The third and final round of the 54-hole event is scheduled for tomorrow, October 18, and all the Saints tee off between 8:45 and 9:20 AM.
