Rain Forces Play to be Suspended at Armstrong Pirate Invitational
SAVANNAH, Ga. – For the third time in the last four years, play was suspended in the 2013 Armstrong Atlantic Pirate Invitational due rain. Teams, including the University of North Georgia men's golf team, had made it nearly half way through the opening round when rain forced the competitors off the course.
The tournament started at 8:00 a.m. but rain forced play to be suspended at 10:55 a.m. with the hopes of resuming play at 4:00 p.m. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
Play is scheduled to resume at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday with the completion of the first round. The second round is scheduled to resume immediately following.
When play was halted, junior Grant Rish was pacing North Georgia with a two-over par score while sophomore Will Brackett was at three-over through nine holes. Freshman Zach Caldwell was +4 and sophomore Aaron George was at +5 through the first nine.
