Saints Rifle Takes 2nd in Strong Field at Wofford
SPARTANBURG, SC – The North Georgia College & State University Rifle team continued to post strong results on the 2009 season Saturday afternoon, placing second in the field of six teams on the campus of Wofford University in NCAA action.
The Citadel captured the team victory at the event, posting a score of 2,231, just edging out the Saints who accumulated 2,223 total points for the runner-up position. Clemson University was third with 2,158 points, while Wofford was fourth, and Mercer University rounded out the top five.
North Georgia dominated the individual standings, holding three of the top five places as Tori Kostecki brought home top honors in the competition, posting 572 total points, her highest total of the season. Kostecki's highest marks of the season was nine points ahead of Stephen Kinn of the Citadel who was second with 563 points.
Brandon Gotterbarm of the Citadel was third with 562 points, while North Georgia would round out the top five with Becca Bryan in fourth place with 559 points, followed by teammate Matt Parsons in fifth place with 556 total points.
Thomas Pifer rounded out the scoring for North Georgia, coming in 17th place overall, posting 536 points in the event.
North Georgia is scheduled to return to competition in another Southeastern Rifle Conference meet on Saturday, October 31, 2009.
