Williams Snags Third PBC Freshman of the Week Honor
AUGUSTA, GA – Ansley Williams continues to make her case as one of the best players in the league as the Saints' leadoff hitter as been named the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week once again.
Earning her third PBC Freshman of the Week honor in the last six weeks, Williams continues to build her case as one of the leading candidates for the league's Freshmen of the Year honors.
Williams impressed last week as the freshman led her team to a 6-0 record, hitting .400 with 10 hits, seven runs batted in and two more home runs. In the final three games of the week, Williams had eight hits, six runs scored, six runs batted in, and two home runs.
Both home runs came in a doubleheader sweep at Columbus State where she set the tone for the day, belting the first pitch of the game over the wall in left center as she had back-to-back three-hit games to lead the Saints to sole possession of first place.
The Cartersville, Ga., native is hitting .356 on the season with 10 home runs, 35 runs batted, 47 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases. Williams sits among the leaders in a slew of different Peach Belt Conference statistical categories, including fourth in hits, first in runs scored, third in runs batted in, first in total bases, and third in home runs.
Williams and the Saints return to action on Thursday evening, traveling to Lander University for a doubleheader against the Bearcats. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. at Doug Spears Field.
