Coan Tabbed as an All-American by Easton Sports Inc.

DAHLONEGA, GA – The awards continue to stack up for junior pitcher Jessica Coan, as the right-hander has been named an Easton All-American following a record-breaking season for the Saints.

All-American honors from Easton Sports Incorporated are added to the Duluth, Ga., natives long list of awards for the 2011 season. Coan was named the PBC Pitcher of the Year, Southeast Region Pitcher of the Year, and the highest honor in Division II with the Ron Lenz National Pitcher of the Year.

Coan finished the season with a 27-5 record and 1.09 earned average as she led the Saints to a third straight appearance in the Division II College World Series. In the Super Regional championship game, Coan picked up her 27th of the year, tossing 6.0 innings and holding one of the most prolific offenses in the country to three hits, while striking out six batters.

In 40 appearances, She set a North Georgia single-season record with 334 strikeouts in just 218.1 innings of work, while adding 25 complete games. Coan set the program record for strikeouts in a seven-inning game with 19, a mark that put her in the national spotlight with the second-most strikeouts in the history of NCAA Division II softball.

North Georgia ended year with a 53-12 mark and captured the most wins in school history. The Saints are three time defending Peach Belt Conference regular season and tournament champions, and reigning and three-time champions of the Southeast Region.

Ending the year as the No. 4 team in the country according to the final NFCA Division II Top 25 poll of the year, North Georgia has now been ranked in the nation's top five for 30 consecutive weeks spanning three different seasons.

Coan and the Saints will look to continue the program's historic run in 2012, as they will take the field in the middle of an NCAA Division II dynasty.
