Contact Joey Daniels,

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL – In their first Peach Belt Conference action of the season, the Saints split with Flagler College on the road, winning 6-2 and falling 7-0.

North Georgia (27-5) got the doubleheader started off on the right foot when they defeated the host Saints by four, 6-2, after scoring all six of their runs in the fourth inning.

Sarah Johnson got the scoring started when she lead off the fourth inning with a solo home run to centerfield. Johnson finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.

After the bases loaded following a Tiffanie Burns walk and a Katie Block hit by pitch, Pilar Harden stepped in the box and recorded an RBI the easy way by drawing the base on balls.

Flagler (24-9) would make a pitching change, then would commit a huge error, after Rochelle Shuman reached base safely via the error, making the score 4-0.

Katherine Martin provided another big hit when her single scored two more runs, making the score 6-0 in favor of North Georgia. Martin finished with two RBI's in the game while going 2-for-4 at the plate.

Jessica Coan (17-3) picked up yet another win on the season, after she threw a complete game striking out 14 Flagler batters. Coan allowed two runs on three hits.

The second game of the doubleheader went all Flagler's way, as they got on top of the No. 2-ranked Saints early and often.

North Georgia allowed three runs in the first inning, two more in the second and two more in the fifth to lose by their largest margin this season at 7-0.

Coan pitched one of the worst games in her recent memory, allowing seven earned runs and surrendering eight hits while walking a pair. This game was the first hiccup of the season for the reigning National Pitcher of the Year, and she has been simply brilliant since game two today.

The Saints only finished with five hits in the game, two of them coming from Callie Fernandez who finished 2-for-3 at the plate. North Georgia struck out a total of 10 times in the game, their second highest total in a game this season.

North Georgia now travels to Savannah to take on Armstrong in doubleheader action on Thursday. Game one is scheduled for 1:00 PM and will be followed by game two at 3:00 PM.
