DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia softball team has earned the No. 1-seed and will host a 2012 NCAA Regional this coming weekend, as the national office announced Monday morning on a live selection show on NCAA.com.

For the fourth year in a row, the Saints have been rewarded with a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Southeast Region and will be a host to a regional site this coming weekend, May 4-6.

Currently ranked No. 11 in the country, North Georgia has a record of 45-8, as they are on the verge of winning 50 games for a fourth straight season.

Coming to Dahlonega this weekend will also be the No. 4-seed Augusta State, No. 5-seed Columbus State and the No. 8-seed King College.

The Saints have gone 9-0 over the past three NCAA Regionals, which were all played in the North Georgia backyard of Haines & Carolyn Hill Stadium.

Two Peach Belt Conference foes will join the Saints this weekend, along with the conference tournament champion from the Conference Carolinas. Augusta State and Columbus State are quite familiar with North Georgia this season. North Georgia swept their meeting between the Jaguars and lost two out of three to the Cougars.

Hosting the other NCAA Southeast Regional will be the No. 2-seeded Pirates of Armstrong. Joining Armstrong will be the No. 3-seed Lenoir-Rhyne, the No. 6 seed Catawba and the No. 7-seeded Saints of Flagler.

North Georgia would host an NCAA Super Regional next weekend, should they win three games this weekend and advance on.

The double-elimination tournament will start on Friday, with Augusta State and CSU getting started at 3:30 PM, to be followed by the host-Saints and the Tornado of King College at 6:00 PM.

The pitching has been dominant for North Georgia this year, and it seems the bats are heating up at just the right time. This is the perfect combination for the Saints to make their fourth consecutive trip the NCAA College World Series.

There will be a total of six games played guaranteed, with the possibility of a seventh if necessary. Tickets will be $6 for adults and $4 for students. Children under the age of 3 will be admitted free.
