Women's Golf Takes 11th at BSC Southern Shootout
BIRMINGHAM, AL – The North Georgia women's
golf team completed their fourth event of the fall season on Monday
afternoon, taking 11th place in the field of 17 teams at the
Southern Shootout hosted by the Birmingham-Southern women's golf
team at Highland Park Golf Course.
CSU was the overall team winner with a two-round score of 601, while Shorter College finished one stroke behind CSU with 602, followed by Birmingham-Southern with 612 and Lee University and Montevallo tied for fourth with 631 each.
Shorter's Greta Lange placed second overall with 141, followed by Montevallo's Emily Gibson at third with 144, BSC freshman Ellen Chun at fourth with 146, and Shorter's Gabriella Murcia at fifth with 147. There was a three-way tie for sixth place amongst Shorter's Lisa Parsson and CSU's Kimesha Anthony and Heather Altiser, who all shot 150.
North Georgia opening round 336 was the team's lowest round in program history as the Lady Saints followed with a final round 346 to finish at 122-over-par with a 682.
Catalina Olarte fired rounds of 78 and 80 to finish at 18-over-par with a 158, good for 18th place overall. Casey Truelove recorded an opening round 80, and followed with an 84 on Monday afternoon, placing the freshman in 37th place with a 24-over-par 164.
Erica Breeden's 39-over-par 179 put her in 70th place overall, while Jodie Borchert finished in 73rd place after rounds of 93 and 88. Courtney Hall rounded out the team with a 59-over-par 199, good for 84th place overall.
The Lady Saints return to action on Wednesday afternoon, traveling to the Mountain Lion Fall Invitational hosted by Young Harris College at the Old Union Golf Course.
