Olarte Tops the Field, Women's Golf Takes Second

BLAIRSVILLE, GA – The North Georgia women's golf team completed their fall season on Wednesday evening, taking second place in the field of three teams at the Mountain Lion Fall Invitational hosted by Young Harris College at Old Union Golf Course.

Young Harris captured the team title, finishing with a 59-over-par 347, while North Georgia was seven shots off the lead with a 66-over-par 354. Truett-McConnell College rounded out the field with a 148-over-par 436.

Catalina Olarte came away with a one shot victory to claim the individual championship, firing a 7-over-par 79 to clear a trio of Young Harris players, including Kelsey McEntyre who was one stroke off the lead with an 8-over-par 80.

Casey Truelove tied for fourth in the event with a 17-over-par 89, while Erica Breeden's 20-over-par 92 put her alone in 7th place on the 5,735-yard par 72 course.

Jodie Borchert and Courtney Hall finished in 8th and 12th place respectively with rounds of 94 and 105, while Daisy Wright competed as an individual, taking 13th place with a 43-over-par 115.

North Georgia puts a lid on a successful fall season that saw the Lady Saints compete in five events and record the lowest rounds in program history.

The second-year program will go right back to work in the spring with a full slate of events, culminating with the 2011 Peach Belt Conference Tournament on April 11-12, at the Savannah Quarters Country Club hosted by Armstrong Atlantic. The two-round event will be the second PBC women's golf championship in conference history.
