Women’s Golf 13th Through First Round of Flagler Fall Slam

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The North Georgia College & State University women's golf team opened up the 72-par Flagler Fall Slam Monday with a team score of 341 to sit 13th among 18 teams following the first round of competition. 

Barry University is the current team leader with a combined stroke count of 296 with Tusculum 15 strokes back in second and Saint Leo third, 19 strokes behind.

Barry's Nicole Ferre leads the field with a one stroke under par 71 while teammate Nancy Vergara is second with an even par of 72.

Freshman Mariana Pelaez currently leads the way for the Saints as she shot an 81 in the opening round to sit tied for 32nd.

Senior Catalina Olarte is just one stroke behind in a tie for 40th while sophomore Abbey Gill finished the round with an 87.

Sophomore LeeAnn Noble rounded out the scoring for North Georgia on day one with a 91 and Casey Truelove carded an opening 94. 

Other Peach Belt Conference schools competing in the Fall Slam include the host school, Flagler College, in a tie for fourth, Armstrong Atlantic State University and Columbus State University in a tie for seventh and Lander University in 10th.

The team will be back on the links tomorrow morning for the final round at the Marsh Creek Golf Course.
