Women's Golf Opens Agnes McAmis Memorial Ninth of 18

GREENVILLE, Tenn. – Behind a 79 from senior Catalina Olarte, the University of North Georgia women's golf team opened Tusculum College's Agnes McAmis Memorial tournament with a 326 to sit ninth following Monday's opening round.

Tusculum and Lander University are currently tied for the lead as both teams carded an opening 310 while North Greenville University finished the first round in third just two strokes back. The teams in fourth through 12th are all separated by just 10 strokes.

Lander's Teresa Caballer Hernani currently leads the field following her opening round, one-under par 71.

Olarte's 79 has her currently in a tie for 17th. Behind Olarte, sophomores Abbey Gill and LeeAnn Noble wrapped up the opening round with matching 82's to sit in a tie for 33rd. Mariana Pelaez wrapped up the Saints' scoring four one stroke back with an 83.

The 18 teams in the tournament will continue play tomorrow, Tuesday, Apr. 9 in the final round.
