Lady Saints Honor Most Successful Class in History

DAHLONEGA, GA – With heavy thunderstorms soaking the North Georgia area over the last 48 hours, the North Georgia women's soccer game against Brevard College was washed out, but the Lady Saints still honored their five seniors who's careers are coming to a close.

The winningest class in school history was honored Wednesday evening before kickoff of the men's soccer game, honoring Brittany Bauschka, Jessica English, Kelly Martin, Lauren Schenk, and Casey Smith for their 38 wins and counting.

Brittany Bauschka is a four-year letterwinner majoring in History and is the daughter of John and Barbara Bauschka. Brittany will leave the North Georgia women's soccer program as the All-time leader in games played with 69 and games started with 68. Brittany has been a Peach Belt Conference Presidential Honor Roll member every year of her career.

Jessica English is a four-year letterwinner majoring in Criminal Justice and is the daughter of Jeff and Paula English. During her four seasons with the Lady Saints, Jessica has tallied 186 saves and 15 shutouts, both marks that stand as North Georgia career records. She was also named the Peach Belt Conference Defender of the Week twice and logged over 4000 minutes in goal.

Kelly Martin is a three-year letterwinner majoring in Psychology and is the daughter of Bill and Lee Ann Martin. After transferring from the University of Kentucky, Martin has played in 51 games for North Georgia, starting in 47 of those contests. Kelly was named First-Team Peach Belt All-Conference during her sophomore year and has been a member of the Peach Belt Presidential Honor Roll every year.

Lauren Schenk is a four-year letterwinner who graduated with a degree in Exercise Science last spring and is currently enrolled in the Master's of Public Affairs program. She is the daughter of Ed Schenk and Debra Weber. Lauren will leave the North Georgia women's soccer program as the all-time leading goal scorer with 29 and career point's leader with 68. She has been named to the Peach Belt All-Conference Team twice and has been a member of the Peach Belt Presidential Honor Roll every year of her career.

Casey Smith is a four-year letterwinner majoring in Early Childhood Education and is the daughter of David and Cyndi Smith. Casey will leave the Lady Saints as the most decorated player in program history. She is a three-time All-Conference and All-Region performer as well as the only player in Peach Belt Conference history to be named PBC Offensive and Defensive Player of the week in the same season. The 2009 NSCAA All-American is also the Peach Belt Conference's all-time leader in assists with 41. She currently leads the nation in that category with 15 assists this season. Casey also shares the North Georgia record of Games Played with 69, and games started with 68. She is currently tied with fellow senior Lauren Schenk for career points with 68.

With an NCAA National Tournament appearance on the line, the Lady Saints travel to UNC Pembroke on Saturday afternoon for an all-important Peach Belt Conference battle with the Braves in both team's regular season finales. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. in North Carolina.
