30th-Ranked Bobcats Slide by Lady Saints in PBC Play

MILLEDGEVILLE, GA – The North Georgia women's tennis team faced another nationally ranked squad on Thursday afternoon, traveling to 30th-ranked Georgia College and falling 8-1 to the Bobcats at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility in Peach Belt Conference action.

The Lady Saints fall to 5-5 overall on the year and move to 2-4 in Peach Belt Conference action, while the Bobcats improve to 7-3 overall on the year and 4-2 in league action.

North Georgia got off to a hot start as Laura Chapman and Stasa Vujosevic played No. 1 doubles and knocked off Kayla Barksdale and Bertille Lion 8-2 to give the Lady Saints an early 1-0 lead. The Bobcats would breeze to wins at No. 2 and No. 3 double however, and take a 2-1 lead into singles action.

Chapman battled Lion at No. 1 singles and pulled out a 7-5 victory in the opening set, but the Bobcat senior rallied back with tough 7-6, 7-5 wins to grab the three-set victory.

Audrey Marlette was also tangled in a three-set marathon, taking the opening set 6-3, before falling 7-5, 6-3 to give Georgia College a clean sweep in singles play and an 8-1 victory.

North Georgia returns to action over the weekend in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, playing three matches in as many days, including a regional match with Brevard College on Saturday morning.
