Lady Saints Fall Short in PBC Battle with Bearcats

DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia women's tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision on Tuesday afternoon to Lander University in Peach Belt Conference action at Yahoola Creek Tennis Complex.

The Lady Saints fall to 7-9 overall on the year and 2-7 in Peach Belt Conference action, while the Bearcats improve to 13-5 overall and 5-4 in league play.

Laura Chapman and Stasa Vujosevic picked up a point in doubles play, breezing by Aurelia Ruffat and Cayce Bradley 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, but the Bearcats held a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.

The Lady Saints continued to impress at the top of the lineup, as Chapman picked up a win at No. 1 singles, taking down Brandi Cordell 7-5, 6-2 to give North Georgia their second point of the day.

Vujosevic stayed on track at No. 2 singles as well, giving Ruffat all kinds of problems with a three-set victory, battling back for the 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win. The victory would be the final point of the day for North Georgia, falling 6-3 to the Bearcats.

North Georgia returns to action on Thursday afternoon, traveling to Tusculum College to battle the Pioneers in non-conference action. First sere is set for 4:00 p.m.
