North Georgia competes at Morhouse for Regionals
Schmitz and Bowers take home victories
ATLANTA, GA - North Georgia College & State University competed at the NCAA South Regional on the campus of Morehouse College over the weekend with two athletes taking home victories in a pair of events.
Alan Schmitz competed in the 800-meter event and took top-honors in the field of eighteen with a time of 1:54.48, finishing just in front of Frank Bolling of Harding University who posted 1:54.52.
Schmitz has already broken the NCAA Division II provisional mark of 1:52.00 at the Tiger Invitational on the campus of Auburn University earlier this season where he posted a time of 1:51.40. He will now await word from the NCAA on a bid to the National Championships at Hilmer Lodge Stadium at Mt. SAC College in Walnut, California.
North Georgia's Dillon Bowers also brought home the top prize in the pole vault event, clearing 4.57 meters which sailed him to victory over Brad Passen from the University of Alabama Huntsville.
