Wiley takes home PBC Pitcher of the Week honors

Freshman tosses third complete-game of season

DAHLONEGA, GA - North Georgia College & State University's James Wiley was named the Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced yesterday afternoon by the conference office. This is third North Georgia player to receive a PBC weekly award this season and the second by a pitcher.

Wiley turned in his best performance of the season as he pitched a complete-game five-hit shutout of Georgia Southwestern as the Saints completed a three-game PBC series sweep. The freshman walked three and struck out six in the 4-0 win.

He set down the side in order three times, including the seventh and ninth innings. He only got into trouble once in the fourth with runners on second and third with one out, but struck out the next two to preserve the shutout.

North Georgia is in the midst of a five game winning streak and continuing on a blistering pace that has seen them win 14 of their last 15 games. The Saints will take on West Georgia this afternoon at the baseball complex with first pitch set for 4:00 p.m.
