Baseball Ranked #26 in Latest DII Collegiate Poll
DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia
baseball team continues to find themselves ranked among the
nation’s best, coming in at #26 in the latest Collegiate
Baseball Magazine Division II Top 30 Poll released Monday
afternoon.
The Saints went 1-4 last week, splitting a two-game series during
the week with Catawba College at home, before traveling to now
6th-ranked Georgia College & State University and dropping a
trio of games over the weekend.
After North Georgia suffered it’s first three-game sweep of
the season, the Saints now sit at 15-11 overall, and in fourth
place in the Peach Belt Conference at 7-5 in league play.
With the Saints coming in at #26, this marks the 13th consecutive
poll North Georgia has appeared in dating back to April 21, 2008
where they came in at #24.
North Georgia will now welcome in-state rival Valdosta State to
town for single games on Tuesday and Wednesday. Last season, the
Saints swept a pair of games from the Blazers on the road, using 11
innings to take game one 5-3, before taking game two 7-5.
After a pair of mid-week games, the Saints will hit the road again
for another three-game Peach Belt Conference weekend series, this
time traveling to UNC Pembroke for a doubleheader on Saturday and a
single game on Sunday. The Braves took two of three from the Saints
last season in Dahlonega, dropping the opener, but rallying to take
the final two games.
