Baseball Places Four on PBC All-Academic Team
DAHLONEGA, GA – The Peach Belt Conference has
released the 2010 Baseball All-Academic teams from the league
office and North Georgia placed four members on the team, including
one first-team and a trio on the second-team.
The teams are part of a season-long program recognizing the
outstanding accomplishments of PBC student-athletes in the
classroom as well as on the field.
ANDERS OSTER – SENIOR – 3.74 GPA –
FIRST-TEAM
Anders Oster, 3.74 grade point average student, is a senior
majoring in physics. The Lawrenceville, Ga., native is hit .305
with 24 runs batted in, and an on-base percentage of .416. He has a
.951 fielding percentage at shortstop and recorded three doubles,
one triple, and two home runs during an injury shortened senior
season.
JORDAN ERISMAN – SOPHOMORE – 3.70 GPA –
SECOND-TEAM
Jordan Erisman, a 3.70 grade point average student, is a sophomore
who hit .345 during the 2010 season with five home runs and 46 runs
batted in. Named to the 2010 Peach Belt All-Conference team,
Erisman played and started all 51 games for the Saints this season
and recorded 78 hits, including 14 doubles, and a league-leading
six triples.
CRAIG BRISSON – SENIOR – 3.31 GPA –
SECOND-TEAM
Craig Brisson, a 3.31 grade point average student, is a senior
majoring in math education. The Lawrenceville, Ga., native is hit
.303 on the year with 15 doubles and 50 runs scored from the
leadoff position. He has played and started all 51 games for the
Saints in the outfield and had 31 runs batted in and an on-base
percentage of .417.
NICK WHITE – SENIOR – 3.80 GPA –
SECOND-TEAM
Nick White, a 3.80 grade points average student, is a senior
majoring in Physical Therapy. In 17 appearances out of the bullpen,
the Decatur, Ga., native had a 3.54 earned run average with a 2-1
record in 20.1 innings of work. He has 12 strikeouts on the season
and one save, while opponents are hitting .209 against the
right-hander.
To be eligible for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must
1) participate in at least half of his/her team’s events and
be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.20
cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at
least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The
Peach Belt Conference Sports Information Directors oversee and
select the teams.
Founded in 1991, the Peach Belt Conference is home to 26 NCAA
Division II National Championships. 13 member institutions in North
Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Alabama compete in
13 championship sports. 2009-10 members are Augusta State
University, Armstrong Atlantic State University, Clayton State
University, Columbus State University, Flagler College, Francis
Marion University, Georgia College & State University, Georgia
Southwestern State University, Lander University, University of
Montevallo, North Georgia College & State University,
University of North Carolina at Pembroke and the University of
South Carolina Aiken.
