Barrage of Homers Lifts Saints Past Stillman College
TUSCALOOSA, AL
– The North Georgia College & State University baseball
team used four home runs and another stellar pitching performance
from senior Chris Rearick to outslug Stillman College 16-10 Monday
evening in non-conference action.
The Saints improve to 2-2 on the young season, taking their second
straight series opener, as the two teams will play a doubleheader
on Tuesday afternoon to cap the three-game set.
North Georgia jumped all over the Tigers in the early going, using
a pair of two-run blasts in back-to-back innings to take a 4-0
lead. Chad Sage provided the first homer in the second inning,
while Andre Airich followed in the third inning with a bomb of his
own, and his second of the season.
After the Saints tallied three more runs in the fourth, Troy
Snitker came alive and launched a three-run homer in the fifth
frame, scoring Chage and Brad Hall to give North Georgia a
commanding 10-1 advantage. In the sixth, Snitker recorded his third
long ball of the year, and second of the game, this time a two-run
blast to cap a three-hit, five RBI day for the sophomore.
Sage would drive in North Georgia’s final run of the game in
the seventh, giving the leftfielder four hits in six trips to the
plate and competing a four RBI performance. Stillman scored a
single runs in the third and sixth innings before adding two in he
eighth and six more in the ninth with the game out of reach.
Senior Chris Rearick (2-0) recorded his second straight near
perfect performance, tossing 7.0 innings of three-hit ball,
allowing two runs, one earned, while striking out twelve Stillman
batters. Greg Fox made his North Georgia debut in the final two
innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out three.
