DAHLONEGA, GA – Riding a six game winning streak the North Georgia baseball team jumped back into the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30 Poll at No. 26 on Monday afternoon.
The Saints are one of six teams from the Peach Belt conference ranked in the third top 30 poll of the season, joining Columbus State (4), UNC Pembroke (9), Francis Marion (12), Armstrong Atlantic (17) and USC Aiken (29).
West Florida tops the polls for the third consecutive week, while Tampa, Central Missouri, Columbus State and Grand Valley State round out the nation's top five team.
North Georgia went a perfect 3-0 last week, taking down West Georgia on the road and sweeping a doubleheader from Northern Kentucky on Saturday at Bob Stein Stadium.
Through the first nine games, North Georgia has a team earned run average of 3.82, while striking out 52 batters.
Offensively, The Saints are hitting .283 as a team, while whacking 86 hits and scoring 65 runs.
After starting the season 1-2, the Saints have reeled off six straight wins, a feat they accomplished three times last season. The Saints opened the season ranked 35th, but dropped out of the polls after their struggles in the opening weekend of the season at the Comfort Suites Classic at Valdosta State.
North Georgia returns to the diamond this weekend, playing host to No. 9 UNC Pembroke to open Peach Belt Conference action. The Saints and Braves will play a doubleheader Saturday afternoon and a single game on Sunday.
