AUGUSTA, GA – After tossing a complete game six hitter against the 9th-ranked UNC Pembroke Braves, Taylor Keinat has been named the Pelt Belt Conference freshman of the week.

The league office announced the news on Tuesday afternoon as the Saints prepare to face Peach Belt Conference foe Francis Marion this weekend.

In Just his second collegiate start, Keinat threw his best game at North Georgia, going the distance and scattering six hits, while striking out five and allowing only one earned run.

After surrendering a leadoff bunt single, Keinat retired the next 11 batters he faced. The Braselton, Georgia, native did a great job changing speeds and mixing up his pitches and did not allow a base hit out of the infield until the sixth inning.

In four appearances this season Keinat has amassed a 1-1 record while recording one save. His earned run average is 2.0 and he has 4:1 strikeout to walk ratio.

Keinat is the first North Georgia to earn the freshman weekly honor since Blake Hobby and Jordan Erisman earned the honors back-to-back weeks in late April of 2009.

The 13th ranked Saints return to the diamond this weekend as the take on the 30th ranked Francis Marion Patriots.

The two squads will play a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m. on both days. The Saints are just 6-15 all-time against the Patriots.
