Cantrell Adds Four Pitchers During Early Signing Period
DAHLONEGA, Ga. – North Georgia College & State University baseball coach Tom Cantrell has added four high school players to his pitching staff for the 2013-14 year during the recent early signing period. Joining the Saints on the mound will be Avery Greer, Sam McCoy, Shane Seckinger and Josh Wolfe.
"We are very excited to add these four players to our program starting next year," Cantrell stated. "I know that Avery, Sam, Shane and Josh will all fit in well with our current pitching staff and will work hard for us. Their addition to the program will make us stronger."
Greer played at Harrison High School under Mark Elkins where he boasts a 2.3 earned run average to go along with 102 career strikeouts compared to just 56 walks. He was named to the Perfect Game National Team as an honorable mention and was a Presidential Honor Roll student all four years.
He also plays travel ball for Tigers Baseball under the guidance of Shane Monahan. For the Tigers, he holds a 1.6 ERA, 23 strikeouts and nine walks.
McCoy has played his high school ball at Parkview High School under head coach Chan Brown.
Seckinger is a two-time varsity letterwinner for Mill Creek High School and holds a 9-2 record and a 1.72 earned run average. In his career, he has recorded 102 strikeouts compared to 28 hits in 72 innings of work.
Last season, he was named to the Gwinnett County Dugout Club All-County First Team and was tabbed the Region 7AAAAA Pitcher of the Year and has also been named a scholar athlete and earned three academic letters.
Wolfe, a senior at Brentwood High School, posted an 8-0 record last season with a 0.52 ERA off 71 strikeouts. He also batted .415 with eight home runs and 44 runs batted in.
He was named to the All-State, All-Region teams last season and was a member of the 2012 AA GISA State Champions.
