“Family Day” Draws Crowd for Pair of Exciting Games
DAHLONEGA, Ga. – In an effort to engage the local community more, the North Georgia College & State University Athletic Department celebrated “Family Day” on Saturday, Jan. 5 during the Saints’ Peach Belt Conference doubleheader with Georgia College. The event drew a crowd of close to 400 which helped cheer on the Saints during two exciting games inside Memorial Hall Gymnasium.
Families of any size were admitted to the game for just $10 and everybody in attendance received free popcorn courtesy of Aramark and the concessions stand. At half time of both games, children in attendance were invited down onto the court where they particpated in relay races, much to the delight of those in attendance.
"It was wonderful to see so many families from the community come and support our men's and women's teams and enjoy an afternoon together with our North Georgia family,” said Athletic Director Lindsay Reeves. “We always enjoy the support of community members at our events and look forward to another fun evening with the community when we host ‘YMCA Night’ in a couple weeks.”
“YMCA Night” will be held on Monday, Jan. 21 and will see North Georgia’s men’s and women’s basketball teams take on PBC East foe the University of South Carolina Aiken. The Saints women will take on the nationally-ranked Pacers first at 5:30 p.m. before the men’s teams square off on the hardwood at around 7:30 p.m.
