Saints Devour Cougars 121-79 in Home Opener

DAHLONGA, GA – North Georgia found themselves running on all cylinders Tuesday evening, draining 20 three-pointers on their way to a 121-79 victory over Carver Bible College at Memorial Hall in non-conference action.

North Georgia (2-0) jumped all over the Cougars in the opening minutes as senior LaBrian Lyons put on a show, scoring 11 straight points in less than two minutes to give the Saints a 16-10 lead at the 16:02 mark.

Michael Moynihan continued to shine for the Saints, shooting lights out in the first half with five three pointers, while Andre Morgan chipped in 10 points of his own in the first period to lead his team to a 68-51 lead at intermission.

The Saints came out in the second period and never let up, picking up right where they left off and continuing to extend the lead. With a late surge, North Georgia came up one point shy of the school’s all-time single-game scoring record, posting 121 points as Carver Bible fell to 2-9 on the season.

Moynihan and Lyons led the way with 27 points apiece, while Moynihan notched his first double-double of the season with his 10 assists. Anthony Rowe pitched in a double-double of his own with 11 points and 12 rebounds in 27 minutes of action.

Morgan and Brody Langston tallied 13 points each to round out five Saints in double figures.

Carver Bible was led by Delta Leonard who put on an impressive shooting performance, knocking down eight three-pointers while going 10-16 from the field for 29 points. Reggie Anderson and Chris Dudley scored 11 points each, while Leon Wright added seven points and three rebounds.

The Saints will take on Flagler College over the weekend, traveling to St. Augustine, Florida, for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off on Saturday evening.
