Cougars Prey on Saints, Escape with 77-63 Win
COLUMBUS, GA – North Georgia College
& State University fell short in their bid for a second
straight victory, falling 77-63 at Columbus State University
Wednesday evening at the Lumpkin Center in Peach Belt Conference
North Georgia falls to 11-10 overall and 5-10 in the Peach Belt, while Columbus State improves to 8-12 overall and 6-8 in the league.
LaBrian Lyons led the Saints with 15 points, while Brody Langston added 13 points on 6-8 shooting. Anthony Rowe led North Georgia on the boards with nine rebounds in 31 minutes of action.
Sean Miller led all scorers with 23 points for the Cougars, shooting 7-14 from the field and 7-8 from the free throw line. Javarus Stewart tallied 14 points and led CSU with six rebounds.
North Georgia shot 41.7 percent from the field, but struggling from long range and at the free throw line. The Saints shot 21.7 percent from behind the arc and 47.1 percent from the foul line.
The Saints led by as many as five points in the first half, but trailed by 11 at intermission and by as many as 20 in the second half before falling by 14.
North Georgia outrebounded the Cougars 36-35, but CSU forced 18 turnovers while committing 15.
North Georgia returns to action on Saturday afternoon, hosting UNC Pembroke with tip-off set for 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Hall.
