Saints Pick up First PBC Win, Down Braves 81-67
PEMBROKE, NC – North Georgia College
& State University used a second half run and a balanced
scoring attack to take down UNC Pembroke 81-67 Saturday evening in
Peach Belt Conference action.
The Saints pick up their first conference win of the season with the victory, improving to 7-4 overall and 1-4 in the PBC, while UNC Pembroke falls to 3-9 overall and 0-5 in the league.
North Georgia led by as much as 13 in the first half, but the Braves went on a run late and tied the game 34-34 at halftime.
The Saints blew the game open to start the second period, going on a 16-4 run, capped by a layup from Matt Maddox at the 13:35 mark to make it 50-38.
The Saints led by as much as 12 points at three different occasions in the second half, but a Michael Moynihan layup in the final seconds gave North Georgia the 14-point road victory.
Anthony Rowe led five North Georgia players in double-figures with 15 points and six rebounds, while Moynihan added 14, and Andrew Morgan and Maddox each chipped in 12. Brody Langston had 11 points on 3-6 shooting, including going 5-7 from the charity stripe.
Demarcus Lyday led the Braves with 15 points, while David Moore and Brandon Thomas each chipped in 14.
North Georgia returns to action on Wednesday, January 14, hosting Columbus State at 7:30 p.m.
