Golf Programs to Host Inaugural Tournament
DAHLONEGA, GA
– The North Georgia men’s and women’s golf teams
are set to host the Inaugural Golf Team Fundraiser Honoring Masters
Champion Tommy Aaron in August at Achasta, a Linger Longer
Community.
The Inaugural NGCSU Golf Team Tournament Honoring Tommy Aaron will
be held Monday, August 31, 2009, at Achasta in Dahlonega, Ga., the
new home for the Saints and Lady Saints on the links.
Entry fee for the tournament will be $600 per team or $150 per
golfer. The tournament is limited to the first 25 teams and the
course will be closed to outside business with lunch and an auction
to follow the event.
Masters Champion Tommy Aaron will be on hand to autograph a photo
with a player for $50, while an inaugural North Georgia golf
commemorative tray will be given to each participant.
Check-in and photos with Tommy Aaron will be from 7:45 to 8:45 AM.
The tournament format will begin at 9:00 AM sharp with a four-man
scramble. You may choose your team prior to the tournament or you
will be paired by handicaps.
Prizes will be awarded for (1) closest to the pin on every par
three and (2) the longest drive on a designated par five. (3) The
tournament will award 1st place gross and net teams.
The gem of Achasta is the 6,995-yard, par-72 Achasta Golf Course,
a Jack Nicklaus Signature Design. Though surrounded by dramatic
tree-lined ridges, Nicklaus seamlessly integrated his award-winning
creation into the Chestatee River valley.
North Georgia College & State University President Dr. David
Potter announced in January the addition of the new golf programs
as NCAA Division II sports competing in the Peach Belt Conference,
while naming Achasta Golf pro and long time PGA Professional Tom
Fowler as head coach for the programs.
Can’t make the event? Stay apart of all the action by
becoming a hole sponsor for the tournament, making a contribution
to the programs at a gold, silver or bronze level, or by donating a
piece of memorabilia to the auction.
