Saints Takes 17th Place at Lander Bearcat Golf Classic

GREENWOOD, SC – The North Georgia men's golf team completed play at the second annual Lander Bearcat Golf Classic on Tuesday afternoon, dropping four spots to round out the field at the Greenwood Country Club.

The Saints fired a final round 304 and put together a 603 (299-304) two-day total to round out the field and take 17th place. UNC Pembroke captured the title as one of just two teams under par, finishing with a 2-under-par 574 to clear Carson-Newman by a single stroke.

Georgia College was just two shots off the lead and took third place with an even-par 576, while Barton (580) was fourth, and USC Aiken (581) jumped eight spots on the final day to round out the top five.

Georgia College's Joe Young was the individual winner, finishing at 6-under-par to clear four golfers who tied for runner-up at 4-under-par, including Carson-Newman's Gavin Hay and Newberry's Ben Lown.

Bryson Womack led the charge for North Georgia, finishing in a tie for 15th place overall at even-par, putting together rounds of 73 and 71 to lead the Saints.

Brian Mallory finished at 6-over-par for the tournament and in a tie for 46th place overall, while Howard Duffin was a stroke behind Mallory at 7-over-par following Tuesday's final round 74.

Grant Rish and Matt Rochlin rounded out the team for North Georgia at 14-over-par and 16-over-par respectively.

North Georgia returns to action in two weeks for the Peach Belt Conference Championships at the Savannah Quarters Country Club hosted by Armstrong Atlantic. The two-day event will feature 36 holes on April 11, followed by the 18-hole final round on April 12.
