Saints in 15th Place After Opening Day at Bearcat Classic

GREENWOOD, SC – The North Georgia men's golf team returned to the links after a two week hiatus, shooting a team total of 612 in the first two rounds of the 2012 Lander Bearcat Invitational contested at the par-72 Greenwood Golf Course.
The Saints played 36 holes on day one, following up an opening 311 with an aggregate score of 301 to jump from 17th to 15th. As a team North Georgia recorded 105 pars.
After the first two rounds, USC Aiken holds a 10 stroke lead over Georgia College. Columbus State sits in third with Carson-Newman in fourth, while Flagler and Newberry are tied for fifth.
Flagler's Joel Dahlenburg holds a five stroke lead over Carson-Newman's Gavin Hay heading into the final round. Georgia Southwestern's Craig Gibson and USC Aiken's J.P. Solis are tied for third at five-under par, while Belmont Abbey's Gavin Hedges rounded out the top five.
For the second straight round Aaron George was the low scorer for North Georgia as he shaved one stroke off his opening 76 in round two to sit in a tie for tie for 38th.
Following George was senior Howard Duffin who followed up an opening round 75 with a 77 leaving him a tie for 47th heading into the final round.
Freshman Will Brackett continues to impress as he shot a two-round total of 154 (78-76) to sit in 55th.
The Saints look to jump up the leaderboard as they wrap up the 2012 Lander Bearcat Invitational tomorrow, March 27, with a 9:00 am shotgun start.
