Men’s Golf Eighth Following Opening Round of Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The North Georgia College & State University men's golf team is currently eighth out of 15 teams with a team stroke count of 292 following the opening round of the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate hosted by Lincoln Memorial University at the Sea Trail Golf Resort.
The Saints are currently led by Zach Caldwell's two-under par 70, which leaves the freshman from Dawsonville tied for sixth place. Behind Caldwell, sophomore Aaron George is tied for 20th with an even par, 72, while sophomore Will Bracket, freshman Austin Booker and junior Grant Rish all finished the first round in a tie for 45th place with 75's.
Mount Olive College currently leads the other 14 teams with a combined 280 through the first day, holding a two-stroke lead over Newberry College in second. King College is in third with a 283.
Barton College's Daniel Claytor currently leads all golfers with a four-under par 68, but three golfers for Mount Olive are close on his heels, each recording a 69 for the opening round.
