Men's Golf Finishes Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate in Ninth
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The North Georgia College & State University men's golf team fell one spot in the second and final round of the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate hosted by Lincoln Memorial University, finishing ninth out of 15 teams at the Sea Trail Golf Resort on Tuesday.
Three Saints finished in a tie for 25th place as Grant Rish bettered his stroke count by five strokes from Monday's round. The junior from Port St. Joe, Fla. carded a 70 Tuesday to tie teammates Zach Caldwell and Aaron George with a two-round stroke count of 145. Caldwell opened the tournament with a 70 and followed that up with a 75 on Tuesday while George started things off with a 72 and finished with a 73 in the second round.
Will Bracket and Austin Booker also finished the tournament in a tie. The duo tied each other in 55th place with matching 151's that saw them both card a 75 in the opening round and a 76 in the closing round.
Mount Olive College won the team title with an aggregate score of 563, giving them a three-stroke lead over Barton College in second and five strokes over Wingate University in third.
Barton's Daniel Claytor won the individual crown with a 68 and 69 to finish with one stroke ahead of a trio of golfers in second with a 137.
North Georgia will close out the fall portion of its 2012-13 schedule at the Matt Dyas Memorial held Monday, Oct. 29 through Tuesday, Oct. 30. The tournament will be held in Carrolton, Ga. at the Oak Mountain Golf Club.
