Saint Men Wrap up Bearcat Golf Classic Tied for Ninth
GREENWOOD, S.C. – The University of North Georgia men's golf team wrapped up the Lander University Bearcat Golf Classic with a third round team score of to end up in a tie for ninth as a team with a three-round 913 on Tuesday.
Belmont Abbey College held on to the top spot by carding a 296 in Tuesday's round. The Crusaders finished the tournament with an 878, four strokes ahead of the nationally-ranked University of South Carolina Aiken Pacers in second. Georgia Southwestern State University rounded out the top-three with an 885 following a 289 on Tuesday.
Adam Hedges from Belmont Abbey finished the tournament with a 10 under-par 206 following a 71 on Tuesday to claim the individual crown by eight strokes over second place. Mount Olive College's Sebastian Andersen finished second as an individual with a 214 while USC Aiken's J.P. Solis and GSW's J.P. Griffin finished in a tie for third with matching 218's.
The Saints were led by Aaron George's three-round score of 223 as he carded a 78 on Tuesday. He wrapped up the tournament tied for 16th while Will McFarlin led North Georgia in Tuesday's final round with a 71 to finish in a tie for 29th with a 226.
North Georgia's men will next compete in a three-team, one-day match against the University of West Georgia and Clayton State University on Friday, Apr. 12 at Achasta Golf Club.
