Men's Golf Moves Up One Spot To Finish Sixth At UWG's Matt Dyas Invitational
CARROLLTON, Georgia – (UNGAthletics.com) – The University of North Georgia men's golf team fired a final round 299 for a 54-hole score of 896 (303-294-299) and a sixth place finish out of 11 teams at the Matt Dyas Invitational hosted by the University of West Georgia at Oak Mountain Golf Club. The Nighthawks moved up one spot after the first 36-holes and edged fellow Peach Belt foe Montevallo by 14 strokes.
Host UWG ran away with the event after posting a score of 287-274-292—853 and distanced the field by 15 strokes. The Wolves' Corey Evans was crowned individual medalist with a three-day total of seven-under over the par 72 track.
UNG's Michael Motz carded a final round 77 for a total of 220 and finished in a tie for 14th place out of 60 competitors. Teammate Aaron George also tallied a top-20 finish with a 75-75-72—222 which was good for a tie for 19th place. His final round even par was the low final round score for the Nighthawks.
Nick Green (81-75-74—230, t41st) and Austin Booker (78-78-76—232, t45th) completed the Nighthawks' final round score sheet. Will Brackett's 79-72-79—230, t41st) joined Green in a tie for 41st.
The event capped UNG's fall schedule with the Nighthawks slated to kick off the spring season on February 10-11 at the Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational at the Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga..
