Men's Soccer Reaches Out to Lumpkin County
DAHLONEGA, GA - The North Georgia College &
State University men’s soccer program spread smiles
throughout the Lumpkin County Elementary School system earlier this
month as the team participated in the National Read Across America
Day.
“This is always a great chance to get away from training to
put our focus on our community and to make sure that our youth
understand the importance of reading and education,”
men’s soccer head coach Pat Parris said. “The men
understand that it is not always about them, but it is about the
opportunity to show others the ability to inspire and to give back
to others.”
By reading to the children of Lumpkin County Elementary, the North
Georgia soccer team plans to tie the organizations together in
hopes of fortifying support around the community. This is
third year the Saints have participated in the event as the team
plans to continue community outreach programs in the coming
months.
Last season, the men’s soccer program hosted their first-ever
Peach Belt Conference Tournament game and advanced to the Final
Four for the second straight year. Stay tuned in the coming weeks
as North Georgia’s 2009 schedule will be released to the
public.
A special thanks to the Lumpkin County Elementary School and the
staff who helped make this experience unforgettable.
