Saints get big 1-0 road win against Patriots
Davis gets game's lone goal to spark victory
FLORENCE, Sc. –North Georgia College & State University used a Clay Davis running goal on a cross from Brandon Byers to steal a 1-0 road win away from Francis Marion here Saturday afternoon.
Davis took a cross from Brandon Byers and the scored the match-winning goal at the 37:07 mark. It was the second goal of 2007 for Davis.
Francis Marion outshot the Saints 10-7 and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks, but was unable to put through a tying score. North Georgia senior goalkeeper Brandon Kirksey registered three saves en route to his sixth shutout of the year which account for all the Saints’ wins. FMU freshman goalkeeper Clark Richeson made two stops in the loss.
North Georgia (6-9-1, 2-3 PBC) returns to action at home on Saturday, October 27 as they take on Georgia Southwestern at 4:30 p.m. The Saints will honor their three seniors before the contest.
