LAKELAND, FL – The North Georgia men’s soccer season opener at Florida Southern was cancelled Thursday evening due to inclement weather.

Originally scheduled for 7:00, heavy rain and lightning hit the area shortly after the teams began their warm-up period.

Although the rain had stopped by game time, the field was left unplayable, pushing kickoff back until later Thursday night. Officials hoped to get the game resumed by 9:00, but further weather issues forced the cancellation.

The Saints will now aim to capture their first game of the season Saturday evening as the squad travels to St. Leo University with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
