Tanaskovic and Chedgy Named Preseason All-PBC
AUGUSTA, GA – The Peach Belt Conference has
announced the men’s soccer preseason All-Conference team as
voted on by the league’s head coaches and North Georgia
placed a pair on the squad.
12 members were named to the 2010 team due to a tie for the final
spot at midfielder. Eight of the nine conference teams had members
named to the squad, with two each from Flagler, Lander, Montevallo
and North Georgia. while Clayton State, USC Aiken, UNC
Pembroke and Francis Marion also had players honored.
Rade Tanaskovic and Ben Chedgy earn Preseason All-Conference
honors for the second consecutive year, cementing themselves as the
top defensive players in the league for a team that finished fourth
in the conference in 2009 in fewest goals allowed.
Goalkeeper Rade Tanaskovic was ranked fourth in the PBC with a
1.24 GAA last year and was second in save percentage and fourth in
overall saves for the Saints. He also had three
shutouts. Senior center back Ben Chedgy pounded in one goal
from the back in 2009 but made his mark as the leader of the Saint
defense as the duo continue to earn the respect from around the
conference.
