Men's Soccer Schedule Set for 2010 Campaign
DAHLONEGA, GA
– North Georgia head men’s soccer coach Pat Parris
released the team’s 2010 schedule on Thursday afternoon, a
slate that features 10 home games and eight road contest.
The Saints will open the year with a pair of road exhibition games
against SCAD and Southern Wesleyan before opening the regular
season at the Clayton State Laker Shootout with contests against
Anderson University and Belmont Abbey, both teams from the
Conference Carolinas.
“We have veteran players returning from last year with a new
focus and determination on the upcoming season,” head coach
Pat Parris said. “These players have a taste of what it takes
to play at this level and are ready to face the battles this
fall.”
Following the Laker Shootout, North Georgia will host five
straight home games in September, including non-conference games
against Lenoir-Rhyne, Barry University, and Queens, while the
Saints will step into Peach Belt Conference play with matchups with
USC Aiken and Montevallo in Dahlonega.
Parris has scheduled key non-conference games against Erskine,
Lees-McRae, Tampa, and Brevard late in the year, while the
always-tough league schedule looms with games against Lander,
Clayton State, Flagler College, before ending the regular season
with a trip to UNC Pembroke to battle the Braves.
Parris is in his fourth year at the helm of the Saints, guiding
the program to a 21-32-3 mark in his first three seasons in
Dahlonega. He will look to send North Georgia past the first round
of the PBC Tournament for the third time in four years, while
making a run at the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament
birth.
The 2010 Peach Belt Conference men’s soccer tournament will
hold the quarterfinal round of the championship at the higher
seeded team, before the semifinals and title game will take place
at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga., November 5-7, 2010.
