UNG Men's Soccer Drops Second Straight 4-0 Decision

DAHLONEGA, Georgia – (UNGAthletics.com) – The University of North Georgia men's soccer team suffered its second consecutive 4-0 setback tonight with a non-conference home loss to the visiting Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial University.  LMU scored just 6:20 into the contest and never looked back.

George Burne used an assist from Alexandre Leao to post the game's first score and Mario Pinot would use a helper from Leonardo Da Silva at the game's 32:15 as LMU would take a 2-0 lead into intermission.

Da Silva would strike again early in the second period on a goal off a free kick before Yuri Passos would assist Pinto just a few minutes later to round out the game's scoring.

LMU held an 11-7 advantage in shots and took three of the game's five corner kicks. UNG's Amin El-Shami and Tyler Daly were the only two players to tally multiple shots for the Nighthawks with a pair of shots apiece.

Marcel Barwanietz recorded the win in goal for LMU working 77:00 scoreless minutes. He paired with Zach Jacobsen to record the shutout.

North Georgia returns to action on short rest as the team travels to Morrow, Ga. for the Clayton State Classic on September 13-14.  On Friday, UNG will take on Erskine College before wrapping up the four-team classic on Saturday against Pfeiffer University.    Both games are set to start at 5:00 PM.
