Saints Up 3-1 Over Berry College Before Rain

DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia men’s tennis team was on their way to defeating Berry College Thursday afternoon before getting rained out.

The Saints were up 3-1 when the rain began, postponing the competition. When the rain did not cease after an hour, the coaches decided to call it quits.

The Saints picked up two of the three doubles points, with team of Danny Aguilon and Luciano Neto defeating Jonathon Surls and Elliott Echols 8-4 at the #2 spot and Adrien Saulais and Parker LaSure topping Mark Saporsky and Will Murphy 8-1 in the #3 position. Grant Partrick and Brandon Sloan fell 6-8 at the #1 doubles spot to Marcelo Peterlini and Daniel Mician.

North Georgia grabbed another point from Berry College at the #5 singles spot with Saulais stealing a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Saporsky.

Before the raining delay, Neto was up 4-3 on Peterlini on the #1 court, Aguilon was down 1-5 to Mician in the #2 position and Andy McMaster had taken one set from Steven Weeks, 6-4, and was up 3-0.

The Saints will return to action on Sunday afternoon in the second of four straight home matches, playing host to Carson-Newman College at the North Georgia Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m. against the Eagles.
