Saints Up 3-1 Over Berry College Before Rain
DAHLONEGA, GA – The North Georgia
men’s tennis team was on their way to defeating Berry College
Thursday afternoon before getting rained out.
The Saints were up 3-1 when the rain began, postponing the
competition. When the rain did not cease after an hour, the coaches
decided to call it quits.
The Saints picked up two of the three doubles points, with team of
Danny Aguilon and Luciano Neto defeating Jonathon Surls and Elliott
Echols 8-4 at the #2 spot and Adrien Saulais and Parker LaSure
topping Mark Saporsky and Will Murphy 8-1 in the #3 position. Grant
Partrick and Brandon Sloan fell 6-8 at the #1 doubles spot to
Marcelo Peterlini and Daniel Mician.
North Georgia grabbed another point from Berry College at the #5
singles spot with Saulais stealing a 6-1, 6-1 victory over
Saporsky.
Before the raining delay, Neto was up 4-3 on Peterlini on the #1
court, Aguilon was down 1-5 to Mician in the #2 position and Andy
McMaster had taken one set from Steven Weeks, 6-4, and was up
3-0.
The Saints will return to action on Sunday afternoon in the second
of four straight home matches, playing host to Carson-Newman
College at the North Georgia Tennis Complex. First serve is set for
11:00 a.m. against the Eagles.
