Saints Rally Past Carson-Newman for 6-3 Road Win

JEFFERSON CITY, TN – The North Georgia men's tennis team continues to play well down the stretch as they traveled to Carson-Newman College on Wednesday afternoon and defeated the Eagles 6-3 in non-conference action.

The Saints have now won four of their last five matches and improve to 10-10 on the year, while the Eagles fall to 4-14 overall.

North Georgia took an early lead as Felipe Friedrich and Mateus Camasmie pulled out a victory at No. 1 doubles, while Giovani Santos and Ernesto Farinas were also winners at No. 3 doubles to send the Saints into singles play with a 2-1 advantage.

The top of the order continued to serve up victories in singles action, as Friedrich, Camasmie, and Santos were all winners in straight sets. Farinas tallied the final point of the day for North Georgia, grabbing a 6-2, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles to give the Saints a 6-3 victory on the road.

North Georgia returns to action Saturday afternoon, traveling to Tusculum College to take on the Pioneers. The final match of the 2011 season for the Saints is set for 2:30 p.m.
