North Georgia Tennis Well-Represented In Initial ITA Rankings
SKILLMAN, New Jersey – (UNGAthletics.com) – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association has released its initial national and regional rankings of the 2013-2014 season with the University of North Georgia well-represented in both ballots. UNG's men's doubles team of Matheus Guida and Mateus Camasmie landed as the 15th ranked duo in the national rankings while three other Nighthawks garnered regional accolades.
In addition to the national ranking with Camasmie, Guida entered the initial Southeast region singles rankings at 11th. Women's player Cameron Williams was also in the regional singles rankings at 18th.
In the doubles rankings, Guida/Camasmie is ranked 6th in the Southeast region while the women's tandem of Mathilde Baartvedt and Natalia Escobar registered a regional ranking of fifth.
On the women's side, fellow Peach Belt Conference member Armstrong Atlantic State University is the top-ranked team while Barry (Fla.) University landed in the top spot in the men's team rankings. The AASU men are ranked 2nd nationally.
The UNG tennis teams will open up the 2013-2014 season on February 1, 2014 with a 1:00 non-conference match against Erskine College at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek Park.
