Rifle Team Takes Sixth First Place Finish Of The Season
MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia – (UNGAthletics.com) – The University of North Georgia rifle team earned its sixth first place finish of the season today with top honors at a Southeast Air Rifle Conference (SEARC) event held at Georgia Military College. The Nighthawks posted a 2,303 which was a single point shy of the school record set in the team's last meet in January.
North Georgia posted a team score of 2,303 which was 49 points clear of The Citadel and 54 points better than third-place Wofford. UNG also edged the same two schools for top SEARC honors.
The Nighthawks were anchored by taking the top three individual spots led by Casadie Bragg first-place effort of 585 in the air rifle competition. Teammate Ruthanne Conner was just a point behind at 584 which placed the freshman second while Kyle Bailed rounded out the top three honors with a score of 579. Connor and Bailey's scores were personal bests.
Hannah Peevy also registered a personal best score of 542 for the Nighthawks.
The first place finish marked the sixth top honor of the season through the first 10 competitions as the Nighthawks have finished out of the top two just once on the year.
The mixed rifle team returns to action on February 15 when the team hosts Georgia Southern University at the COL Raymond C. Hamilton Rifle Range on the Dahlonega campus.
