Cox Earns PBC Freshman of the Week Honors
AUGUSTA, GA – Hilary Cox has been named
the Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Week after blasting a
pair of game-winning home runs and hitting .375 in six games for
the Saints last week.
Cox hit .375 in six games last week. The freshman scored three runs
while hitting two game winning home runs including a walk-off 7th
inning homerun to give the Saints an 8-7 win over Armstrong
Atlantic.
Cox also drove in five runs, finishing with a .412 on-base
percentage and a .875 slugging percentage. In the top of the ninth
inning against West Georgia, Cox stepped up to the plate and
knocked in a two-run home run to lead the Saints to a 4-3
victory.
In the next series against Armstrong Atlantic, Cox once again
stepped up in the 7th inning with the score tied and hit a solo
shot to give the Saints a walk-off win 8-7 over conference rival
Armstrong Atlantic.
Hours after being named the conference freshman of the week, Cox
went out and went 2-3 at the plate in the final game of a double
dip, launching her third career home run and driving in a pair as
the Saints defeated Columbus State 8-0 in game one and 6-2 in the
nightcap to sweep a doubleheader from the Cougars.
The Saints are currently ranked 3rd in the nation at 29-3 overall,
having won 21 of their last 22 contest. North Georgia also sits at
the top of the Peach Belt Conference standings at 7-1 overall.
