ST. AUGUSTINE, FL – 5th-ranked North Georgia swept a non-conference doubleheader from Flagler College 2-1 in 9-innings and 10-6 Sunday afternoon as the Saints extend their winning streak to 14 games.

The Saints improve to 22-2 on the season, while Flagler falls to 12-19 on the year.

In the opener, Leslee Smith led off the top of the ninth with a ground-rule double to left field. Caroline Bower came on to run for Smith and moved to third when Pilar Harden’s grounder to shortstop was mishandled by Flagler’s Heather Hill. The next batter, Jessica Skeels singled to left to score Bower with the game winning run.

Sarah Phillips (12-1) scattered six hits and allowed one run in nine innings. She struck out six, but induced 13 ground outs and eight fly outs.

Flagler scored its lone run in the fourth inning when Kaycee Lisa hit an RBI double.

In game two, North Georgia scored four runs in the first and three more in the second to win a 10-6 slug-fest. Both teams combined for 22 hits.

In the top of the second with score tied at 4-4, the Saints got things started when Hilary Cox led off with a single. Two batters later, Laura Voyles singled to right center to chase Flagler’s starter Kristen Chapman (3-9).

Boatner came on to pitch and uncorked a wild pitch to move the base runners up. Kasey Knight singled to right to score both runners and North Georgia took a 6-4 lead. Knight stole second and then scored on Smith’s single later in the frame.

Flagler scored single runs in the second and third to cut North Georgia’s lead to 7-6, but could not get any closer.

Skeels added an RBI single in the fourth for insurance and then Courtney McGuire belted a two-run home run in the sixth.

Trisha Snider (10-1) tossed a complete game and surrendered 10 hits and five earned runs, but induced 11 ground outs and seven fly outs.

Smith went 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored and three RBI for the Saints. Knight singled twice, scored three runs and drove in two more. McGuire singled, homered, scored two runs and drove in two more.

North Georgia will now turn their focus to USC Aiken, as the Saints travel to South Carolina to take on the Pacers Tuesday afternoon with a doubleheader scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
